This session covered two aspects of the workshop on “Planning, Assessment, Design, Construction, Renovation, & Financing,” a comprehensive housing model and “getting the job done.” The comprehensive housing model portion covered determining student needs, evaluating current facilities, programs, and operations, developing preliminary programs and budgets, and creating a comprehensive plan. The “getting the job done” portion discussed the traditional means of development vs. partnerships, how and what type of partnership to choose, how to work with developers, and a review of data on student housing developers.
